Near end followup

31 Dec 2014

Within just a few days of hearing from a HOLMES with a yDNA match to me, we’ve found his line back to John HOLMES (and beyond!) He told me he’d had ancestors in Oxford, ME; I noticed the second to last family in Stratton’s article on John’s descendants included one who was in Oxford; and then it was just some online searching to get the two to match up. Our earliest common ancestor on the male line is John’s son Nathaniel.

I also got an email today from another John descendant, this one living in… wait for it… Plymouth, Massachusetts. Yep, his male line has been in Plymouth ever since 1632 — fourteen generations in one town.
